Vane was a lifelong resident of Vienna Ontario before moving to Tillsonburg in 2002.  He and his wife, Carol, have 6 children Terry, Tracey, Teresa, Troy, Marianne and Justin. 

Vane offers a farming background and entered into real estate in 1987 and has enjoyed most of his career with Paret Realty. 

Vane was also an active member in the Bayham Township serving many positions with dedication for 17 years. Throughout his time in council Vane did a lot of volunteer work within the community. He also was an active member in his church, the Vienna United Church, teaching Sunday School and supporting the board of Stewarts until he moved in 2002. He and his wife Carol now attend the St. Pauls United church here in Tillsonburg.
